"Endometriosis UK (formerly  the National Endometriosis Society) started in 1981 as a self-help group for women with endometriosis. Now, we are a charity  committed to providing  much-needed support and information for anyone affected by the condition. We  work to increase understanding of this common, but often unheard of, disease  among healthcare professionals, employers, people with endometriosis and their  families, the public and the media.                    

We are a membership  organisation, which means that people with endometriosis are a core part of the  work we do – they run our support services, are involved in fundraising and  awareness activities, direct what we do through involvement on our board of  trustees, and therefore have helped to make our charity the UK’s leading  provider of support and information on endometriosis."
