Hey there

Thanks for wanting to know more about little ol' me.
See the info below, happy reading. Here to help you as I can.

About Me

I was born in Greymouth but grew up in Nelson and attended all the schools on Nayland Road. In 1998 I completed a Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy from Otago Uni. I then spent the next year studying at Lifeway College in Snells Beach and completed a Cert in Evangelism and Christian Ministry. In 2000 I married my husband Steve and after a short time living in Gore, where I worked at Gore and Winton Physiotherapy - we moved to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia and lived there for the next 10 years.

Kalgoorlie is dear to my heart as that is where I had my 3 awesome children (Jahmon, Jye and Leilani), made lifelong treasured friendships at 24x7 Church and discovered an area of Physiotherapy that I love – Pelvic Health. Over my time in Kalgoorlie I worked at Kalgoorlie Hospital on the Maternity Ward and Outpatient Department. For the last 2 years I was the Senior Community Physiotherapist. I treated and/or educated thousands of women throughout all life stages including pregnant, post natal, midlife, menopausal, elderly and surgical patients; I assisted midwives on the ward with bladder and perineum care after birth and helped take antenatal classes. I also had the delight of working at the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre where I ran a Clinic for all problems relating to the bladder and bowel, pain with sexual intercourse and vulvodynia (pain in the vulval area). I enjoyed providing community based pelvic floor information sessions. I also travelled out into remote WA to offer a service to Aboriginal and mining communities.

My family and I returned to Nelson in Dec 2010 and since then have again enjoyed the Nelson lifestyle. My husband Steve is a builder and a keen hunter/spear fisherman so since being back we have raised our kids to love the NZ outdoors.

In 2011 I started  Restore Physiotherapy which focused on offering excellence in Pelvic Health with a friendly and caring approach. The practice grew steadily and became well known in the Top of the South region. I completed a Master’s degree in Continence and Women’s Health from Curtin University in 2016. I  also opened a successful online shop focusing on pelvic health products which has been running for 11 years.

I am a  active member of Physiotherapy NZ (PNZ) and have been a member  Pelvic, Women's and Men's Health special interest group committee for 10 years. I have been the national chairperson of this group for the last 4 years.

I sold my private physio practice in Nov 2021 to Celia Wahnig, who had worked with me for 4 years. Celia then pioneered Elevate Physio in Hardy St in Nelson and continues to offer quality care in pelvic health and has taken the practice to another level.

2022 and 2023 was an awesome year for me. My husband and I completed a Discipleship Training School (DTS) at YWAM Nelson. We moved from our home in Stoke to become fulltime volunteers and  live on the YWAM base - a faith community in Wakapuaka. We then lead  a DTS where we went around the North Island on outreach. Then had a season of staffing on the base and I had part-time physio work for 6 months. We spent 3 weeks in Uganda on a short-term missions trip and loved it. My husband and I then lead another DTS and took a team to Uganda for 7 weeks.

In 2024 we joined the leadership team to become co-directors and stretch ourselves in the area of leadership. I am currently seeing patients for online consults and expanding the online shop.

i am studying again doing a Bible School for the Nations course and plan to travel to Papua New Guinea in Dec/Jan 2025.

I am still on the Pelvic health physio committee and  still keeping up doing physio courses and upgrading my skills.

I enjoy gardening, walking at the beach, fishing, swimming, reading and kayaking. My kids are nearly 22, 20 and 18 years old ( as of Sep 2024) -  so I have a different role as a mum now and but I’m enjoying the transition.

Thanks for visiting my website, supporting my online shop and I'm here to help you where I can and to have a free 5 min chat.
