This CD is intended as an adjunct to pelvic floor physiotherapy programs designed to reduce pelvic floor muscle tension and persistent pelvic pain. However, it can be used by men who don't have access to a pelvic floor physiotherapist.
A range of different relaxation techniques are presented in this CD which can be used in its entirety or the listener can decide which techniques are most beneficial and continue to work with just them.
BENEFITS OF THE PELVIC FLOOR RELAXATION CD FOR MEN:
This is an excellent resource to assist in both whole-body relaxation and specifically pelvic floor muscle relaxation. Pelvic floor muscle tension in men can result in:
- penile, scrotal or prostate pain
- bladder pain
- coccyx or buttock pain
- lower abdominal pain
- difficulty emptying the bladder and bowels
- sexual dysfunction
By learning to purposefully relax tight pelvic floor muscles you may be able to:
- relieve pelvic pain
- improve bladder and bowel control
- improve bladder and bowel emptying
- improve sexual function
Learning to relax and let go of pelvic floor muscle tension is just as important for a painful pelvic condition as learning to tighten and strengthen is for weakness of the pelvic floor.
In fact, some men need to first learn how to RELAX the pelvic muscles BEFORE they can learn the correct pelvic floor muscle or Kegel technique to strengthen them. Incorrect technique will cause further problems.
