Endometriosis is a common but poorly understood condition that affects 5 to 10 percent of women. This book fully explains the medical and surgical aspects of endometriosis in lay people's terms and provides a better understanding of how to get the most from the health services available.
“‘Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain’ is the definitive guide to living well with – and inspite of – a confusing and painful disease. Women of all ages, their loved ones – and their physicians – simply must get this book.
Written by leaders in the care and treatment of the disease, ‘Endometriosis’ is a literal handbook of empowerment which will enable patients to finally understand their pain and take charge of their care and treatment. Patients reading this book will finally feel validated, and physicians reading it will finally understand that Endometriosis is more than just killer cramps which can be ‘cured’ by hysterectomy or hormone therapy.
This remarkable book should be given to every single Gynaecologist and their patients – it would drastically improve the current standard of care experienced by those with pelvic pain.”Ms Heather C Guidone, Executive Board Member, International Endometriosis Research Centre, Florida, USA

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
As a gynaecologist, laparoscopic surgeon and pain physician, A/Prof Susan Evans saw the difficulties girls and women with pain suffered, and the lack of co-ordinated, effective services to help them.

This has involved PhD research into the lived experience and neuroimmune causes of period pain, pelvic pain and endometriosis, Co-founding the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia, co-developing the Periods, Pain and Endometriosis (PPEP Talk) Schools Program, and her current work with Alyra Biotech developing innovative new treatments for pelvic pain.
Dr Evans is a Springboard Enterprise 2020 Life Science Alum, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and an Advisory Group Member for Australia’s National Endometriosis Action Plan.
